Meet Our Stylist!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/247442_2070910661029_1492766265_32353353_7251255_n.jpg"}}" alt="" />

As much as we would love to keep her all to ourselves-we figured it was about time to share our lovely stylist with the world. Meet Jessie- our secret weapon and go to for all things fashion. Aside from us giving us the best tips and advice on style, she’s a fabulously fun and quirky addition to our team.

Here are some more fun tidbits on Jessie:

1) Hometown: San Francisco vs. LA?

I grew up in the Bay Area, and think everything here is amazing- the air, the people, the views... But LA has its perks... definitely a fun city to live in... but only for a few years.

2) Favorite Place to Shop?

Right now that whole preppy/americana thing is going on, so I'm pretty into Madewell. They do the prep thing with a twist. PLUS, Alexa Chung designs some of their stuff- I cant knock her style.

3) First Styling Gig?

Hmm... (this is embarrassing)... I was a designer at Ed Hardy Jackets, and ended up getting thrown into working on a shoot... although I was styling bedazzled shirts and jackets, I had fun.

4) Who would you like to be stranded on a deserted island with?

I hope I dont get in trouble for this one, but Alison Mosshart from the Kills is kind of a mega-babe. Like, MEGA babe.

5) Favorite Designer?

Oooh so many. I think YSL is definitely timeless, and I NEVER get over the bows they've been putting on blouses since the 70's. Rodarte is definitely ruling hard. But then there are designers like Yohji Yammamoto who is dark and pushing the envelope in fashion which I absolutely love for other reasons. and of course: WE ALL LOVE MCQUEEN

6) Typical day of a stylist?

Running around like a chicken with your head cut off!! No- there is never a typical day... One day I may be doing style research and checking out the newest shows, another I may be shopping- I may be doing fittings with models, or prepping clothing to be shot. Organization is key: if you stay organized, every other thing that goes into the job flows ten times smoother. If you dont, thats when you become that headless chicken.

7) 3 items you never leave the house without?

Keys. Cell Phone. Wallet. But I ALWAYS have plain chapstick too. (style tip: if you end up stranded without makeup, put a little chapstick between your fingers, and then pinch them over your eyelashes to give your lashes a wet look, replacing that mascara you forgot at home... this works with clear lipgloss too)

8) Who would you love to style?

I think Zooey Dechanel is so cute, and would love to dress her for a red carpet event. Charlize Theron would be amazing, but her style is always impeccable so she doesnt really need a stylist. Tilda Swinton is awesome, so I kinda just want to style her to hang out with her.

9) What is your favorite accessory?

I think simple pearl earrings should be a staple in every girls closet. They are such a versatile piece that makes a statement without screaming. I LOVE my Process and Content porkpie hat. And my new Jeffrey Campbell platform saddle shoes are heaven in a shoebox.

10) Number one styling tip?

Be yourself. I know EVERYONE says that, but its so true. You can try different styles and trends, but unless youre comfortable, you'll be miserable. Go with what you like, not whats cool. THAT is what makes a stylish person. Either that, or it makes a really un-stylish person.

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/necklace_1.JPG"}}" alt="" />

Never know what to wear at a wedding?! Well, this past weekend I was at a wedding and have some tips for you!

At the wedding, the ladies were wearing solid colored dresses with statement necklaces. The dresses were of every color, from black to purple. The cut of the dresses were all very different; some had one strap and others had multiple straps across the shoulders. And for those classic, thin strapped dresses, necklaces dressed them up very nicely. Chunky beading and jewels were seen on almost every girl! Popular necklace colors that I saw were pink, turquoise and gold, which I love!

So when you have a wedding, or another dressy event to attend, don't think too much of how fancy or nice the clothing is, but think of how you can accessorize your outfit to make it more formal! It's a lot easier and less expensive!

It’s hard to believe that 2012 is just flying by. With February already upon us, Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. In the spirit of love and desire we decided to look to poems to inspire us for our very first collection. One poem in particular caught our eye, Love Sonnet XI by poet Pablo Neruda. Its honest and raw narration really strips love down to its core. Minus the fluff and cliches, theres a certain edge to love that sometimes gets overshadowed. Sometimes love can be like .... A Jungle.

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, I’m sure you’re already thinking of what to wear! We have been thinking as well, and put together our Top 5 favorite dresses from a great website, Rent the Runway. It’s an amazing service that allows customers to rent out designer dresses for a fraction of the retail price! Here are our top selections:

1- Sunfaded Beach Dress (Matthew Williamson): This dress is so flirty and fun that we thought it would be perfect for a Valentine’s date! The mixture of colors is exciting and something that not everyone will be wearing!

2- Crimson Scalloped Dress (Robert Rodriguez Collection): A classic red dress for the day! Although it’s the signature color of a Valentine’s dress, it contains texture and a unique cut that makes it sexy and not your average dinner date dress!

3- Cotton Candy Dress (Milly): If your style is more of the “girl next door,” sweet or classy look, you will love this! It’s the light pink color that compliments everyone so well!

4- Camel Chiffon Dress (Tibi): This is a romantic and detailed dress that will leave your date breathless! We love this wrap effect that the top has with the twisted one shoulder strap!

5- Neptune Nights Dress (Mark & James by Badgley Mischka): If you are a fan of the LBD, this is your kind of dress! It’s cute and sexy with the sweetheart cut, perfect for Valentine’s Day! How sweet!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/jenblog.jpg"}}" alt="" />

We thought that today we would take some time and introduce everyone to our wonderful photographer, Jen Coudron! On top of being a fabulous photographer she is also a fun person who brings so much life and energy into the office. We are so excited to have her be part of Cocobop!

Here are some other awesome facts about Jen:

Where are you from?

I grew up in Dayton, Ohio. My family is still there so I visit often, but only becuase of them, not a fan of Ohio overall! Colorado feels like home to me since I was there for 16 years.

What is your favorite color?

Right now....mustard yellow!

What is your favorite food?

I'm a sucker for a great burger but that could be a toss up between cheesecake. So bad, I know :D

What is your go-to accessory?

My favorite go to accessory for sure would have to be big fun earrings.

Where is your favorite place to shop?

That's a toughie, it would depend on what I was shopping for! BCBG is in the to running for sure.

What are three items you cannot leave the house without?

I cannot leave my house without a cup of coffee, chapstick and my dog Sampson.

Who would you like to be stranded on a deserted island with?

If I were stranded on a deserted island I would have my bring the crush of my life....Can't tell you who, but I bet you he knows who he is!

When did you begin being photography?

I started photography officially about 4 years ago, but have loved to be that "annoying friend" who always made everyone stop to get just one more photo!

What do you like to take photos of?

I dabbled here and there with some nature and landscape photography all through my life, but it wasn't until I was attending the Art Institute of Colorado that I discovered shooting people and fashion was just the thing for me. When in school, I will never forget the first portrait of a person I had to take. It was with a large 4x5 camera and shot on one sheet of film. I was so nervous I had to leave the space and regroup before I shot it! So funny, now I don't like shooting anything but people. :)

Where would you love to shoot?

I would love to shoot in the rolling hills of Ireland....Any grand outside space would do though!

Everyone at Cocobop thinks Jen is pretty rad and if you want to see more of her work you can check out her website here!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/birchbox.jpg"}}" alt="" />

This month was my first time receiving a Birchbox order and I fell in love! Birchbox is an amazing online service that sends 4-5 deluxe beauty product samples to you for only $10 a month! Every month the samples differ from shampoo, hair-ties, perfume, moisturizer and even granola bars! This month I received nail polish, lip gloss, perfume, shampoo, conditioner, and a granola bar! As you can see from the photograph, they aren't one-use samples, they can last you awhile (well, maybe not the granola bars....)! And every month is a surprise! You find out what you get when you open the Birchbox! When you sign up, you take a beauty profile test to see what products you use the most so that your Birchbox can be altered to what you like!

Take a look at the website and try a month! Or two! Orr even a year! It's a great beauty service for yourself or even to give as a gift! So take a look at the website and fall in love just as we did!

Sunday night’s Golden Globes were the official kick-off to award season and there were definitely a lot of people who brought out their inner fashionistas, some of them did a great job…while others missed the mark.

Here are our picks for the most fabulous style:

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/nicole-richie-golden-globes-2012.jpg"}}" alt="" />

Nicole Richie- She looked stunning in her silver Julien Macdonald gown. It looked completely effortless and showcased her fabulous physique. To top off Richie’s look she had a fabulous hairstyle that complemented the dress to perfection.

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/kate-beckinsale-golden-globes-2012.jpg"}}" alt="" />

Kate Beckinsale- She wore a nude Roberto Cavalli dress that looked like a dream. And even though Seth Rogan worked hard to get her off of her game during the presenting she looked so beautiful no one even noticed her face turning bright red!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/charlize-theron-golden-globes-2012.jpg"}}" alt="" />

Charlize Theron- She rocked an amazing Dior gown that created a great silhouette. The new Dior spokeswoman said that she chose the dress because it made her feel pretty, and we definitely agree. However our favorite part of the ensemble was her sparkly headband. It added just enough eye-catching bling to complete her entire look.

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/claire-danes-golden-globes.jpg"}}" alt="" />

Claire Daines- She wore a Calvin Klein gown that gave her slender body a real hourglass shape. The structure and contrasting black and white gave the dress a sleek sophistication that made her stand out amongst the sea of flowy mermaid dresses that were worn.

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/emma-stone-golden-globes-2012.jpg"}}" alt="" />

Emma Stone- She looked amazing in a Zac Posen Grecian style dress. The deep purples and flowy fabric not only photographed amazing but according to Stone, was also very comfortable.

These women were a true hit on Sunday night and we cannot wait to see what everyone is going to be dawning at the Oscars!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Photo.jpg"}}" alt="" />

Last week, in sunny Southern California, there were many unique street styles. Since it’s still beautiful, hot weather, there were many high-waisted shorts with tanks and maxi dresses. The style that I kept seeing throughout the different outfits was bohemian: lots of knitted tanks and embroidered detailing in the dresses.

Accessories that were popular: long earrings and bangles. Gold jewelry and beads were seen on everything! Seems like a very bohemian winter!

Also, a makeup trend that I saw was bold eyeliner with the winged edge. Very popular and very cute!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Photo_3.png"}}" alt="" />

You’re packing and getting excited for your next trip.... then you ask yourself, “What the heck am I going to wear on the plane?!” We’ve all been there and it happens every time you start loading your suitcase. You want to be comfortable, but not sloppy; you want to look amazing in the morning but you have an early flight. We know, we know. We’re here to help you.

First things first: it is about being comfortable, but not in the sweatpants and hoodie kind of way. You still want to look fabulous boarding the plane! It should look like you put effort into your ensemble, and the thing is, you don’t have to try that hard!

Layers! It’s the easiest and most convenient way to travel. Throw on a comfortable shirt and a jacket; you never know if you’ll be cold or hot sitting in your seat, so the jacket is a must.

Jeans are the most basic go-to pants for traveling. They go well with everything and look a LOT better than those sweatpants you wear around the house!

Shoes have to be comfortable and easy to take off (don’t make security more difficult than it already is!). Popular ones we’ve seen are flats and booties; leave behind those thigh-high boots!

Accessorizing for the flight is easy: a big purse or tote that carries everything you need! Scarves are also popular (and dress up your outfit a little) since jewelry will set off those metal detectors! And for those early morning flights, no need to paint on a bunch of makeup... why do you think celebrities wear sunglasses everywhere?!

We know that many shoppers (including myself) love to stick with the basic colored clothing, and rarely purchase those intimidating printed items. However, now it is hard to shy away from prints and patterns since they are on every shelf, hanger, and fashion website! If you haven’t invested in any quite yet, there are a couple that we think you would like and are fashionable all year round!

Stripes: This pattern is nautical and fun, and most flattering with horizontal lines, not vertical!

Dots: Tiny or big dots are a classic pattern that goes with just about anything!

Floral: Nothing is more feminine and romantic than floral print! There are so many different kinds of this print that you will have no trouble finding one that you love!

We love these patterns because you can dress them up with accessories so well! Just don’t mix and match prints; this is where you throw in your basic colored scarves or bags!

Accessories are the best way to enhance your closet! Also, it’s less expensive than buying a whole new wardrobe!!

With animal prints, you have to wear them in small amounts; it’s quality over quantity.
<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/6106d6f0363f11e19e4a12313813ffc0_7.jpeg"}}" alt="" />

In true New Years Fashion we’ve picked a few resolutions and goals we would like to accomplish over the next year. Every year we all tend to make a set of goals for our selves that we would like to follow through with over the course of the next 12 months- however in most cases we set unrealistic goals (I mean come on... no chocolate? no swearing? Really?) So here are our Three Real-Resolutions for 2012

1.Read More

This year we want to catch up on our reading! Books, Blogs, Magazines- you name it, we want to read it! Everyone hates awkward silences, so why not catch up on current events (and old ones) and start a lively conversation! (But remember to leave politics out of the bar!)

2. Be Spontaneous

No holding back in 2012. We want to take risks, follow through with plans, make daring choices! Listen to new music, try on new trends, go out on a Wednesday, life’s too short to live too cautiously!

3.Be More Organized

Nothing says new beginnings better than a clean slate, and what better way than to clean up your clutter! Organize your work space, wardrobe, room, and apartments. No longer use your car as a closet! Life can be chaotic enough as it is, so try and instill order wherever you can (start small and move up!) organization is key!

What are some resolutions you guys are setting for yourself?

New Year, New Start

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Photo.jpeg"}}" alt="" />

2012! A new year, a new beginning! We want you to make the most of your new year! Some of you may have new years resolutions and goals, but some may just want a brand new start. Whatever your plans are for the New Year, we hope that these little tips will help make the best of your new year!

First things first, shed everything you don’t want in your life! This can mean anything from old clothes with holes or finally defriending that person on Facebook! It may sound silly but these little things make a big difference; you will feel better about yourself. You deserve to wear clothes that aren’t falling apart and you definitely don’t need to see what your frenemy is up to on your newsfeed!

Another thing that will make 2012 fun and exciting is to be more adventurous! This can mean to simply just saying “yes” instead of “no” to going out with your friends on a weeknight or something bigger like taking that vacation to Europe! Saying “yes” more will make your life excitement-filled and you will have plenty of new experiences and stories! Plus, it’s a great way to get out of the house!

Learn what your hobbies are! What do you like to do? If you don’t know what you like to do, what would you like to learn? Knit? Surf? Find what you’re passionate about and go with it! You can even join a club, may it be a book club, a spinning or yoga class at the gym or an art class at the city college. Learn more this year!

Educate yourself! Reading is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves to keep learning about everything! Your vocabulary will grow and your knowledge about events and people will expand. Also, you should keep a notebook or journal. This will have you documenting your favorite quotes, places, and anything else you find during the day! It’s a good keepsake item! And if you don’t want to carry around a notebook, write them down in your phone!

Hope these tips will help you make the best of 2012! Just remember to have fun!

Want to dress up your style in 2012? Here are some easy tips to look more fabulous in the New Year!

1- Put aside a couple minutes from your usual routine to add some accessories to your outfit. This will show that you are fashionable and it always adds that something else that outfits seem to be missing.

2- Plan out some outfits that you like and document them somehow, either write them down or take pictures of them on your phone. This will help in the morning when you have no idea what to wear. This will eliminate the rushed and messy look you want to stay away from.

3- When in doubt, subtract. Meaning if you think you have too many accessories or too many layers on, you’re right. Simplicity is best. Wearing a statement piece is what will make your outfit stand out more. There is no need to have necklaces and bracelets weighing you down! Confidence shows in simple matters. That one necklace will grab the attention of everyone around you!

4- Don’t stress over getting ready! You have to make it fun and fearless! Try new things and don’t be afraid what people will think!

Shop in your closet

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/closet.jpg"}}" alt="" />

When we look into our closets we all think the same thing: I have absolutely nothing to wear. Next thing we think is that we need to go shopping. The reality is, you can go shopping in your own closet! We already have designated outfits for every piece of clothing we own. That’s the problem! In order to make the most out of what you have, you must be creative; mix and match items that you already own! No need to buy so many new clothes!

I know that it may seem like your clothes are last season or you’re worn them out too many times and people know everything you own, etc. but we are here to help! What I like to do is go into my closet and get out my favorite outfits that I usually wear. I lay them out on my bed and try to mix up the tops and bottoms so that I create new looks. It isn’t that hard, is it? Now, you can do this with any item of clothing that you own. In no time, you will have plenty of outfits to pick from!

Now that you have a grand amount of outfits to choose from, it’s time to accessorize! This will multiply the amount of outfits you just “shopped” for in your closet! Yes, you can create new outfits and looks with your clothing, but also with your accessories! And being our stylish selves, I know that we all have more than one scarf, necklace, bracelet, ring, bag, pair of earrings, and there are some of us that like our hats. With all these different accessories, you create a new look! Just try to keep it simple; don’t put all your different items on at once!

With one of your new outfits from your closet, you can add a fun handbag with a statement necklace for a night out and then for the office put on chunky bangles and some long earrings! And for a day full of errands, put that scarf on and maybe your hat! For any of your outfits, you have these options and so much more! Be creative and have fun with it!

Rulebook Re-Write

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/8a23f5f0319311e1a87612313804ec91_7.jpeg"}}" alt="" />

You know what they say about rules...they’re meant to be broken. Over the years there have been many fashion staples that women everywhere refused to go against. While every era has had its rebels, many combinations which were once considered fashions don’ts have slowly made their way into fashion do’s! So what are some rules that we currently love to break here at Cocobop? Please allow us to share:

1.Wearing Gold & Silver

An age old fashion faux pas is mixing gold and silver accessories. For years this pairing was considered a no-no, but fashion rebels everywhere have gone against tradition to create a look we love! Layer different necklaces, mis-match your earrings and rings, create a bold statement with a large two-toned watch! The options are limitless!

2.Mixing Patterns

The days of not mixing patterns went out the window years ago. When done correctly, mixing patterns and textures can be fun and looks awesome! Try tweed with argyle, or floral with stripes! Many designers have even pre-mixed patterns into many of their pieces! Who’s seen Dolce & Gabbana’s pairing of animal with floral prints this season? We think it rocks!

3.Wearing Brown & Black

Similar to the no gold and silver, the brown and black combination was also a look that was very much frowned upon. However over the years the pair has been seen everywhere from the runway to the red carpet. Designers have begun to include the duo in their collections, and we say you should too!

So live a little on the wild side! We here at Cocobop encourage you to push the boundaries of fashion, toss aside the age-old rule book and who knows? Perhaps you’ll find your latest rebellion on next years runway!

Have you ever bought an accessory you absolutely loved, worn it out a couple times, and then throw it somewhere only never to be found again? A problem I’ve come across alot in the past was not being able to wear accessories I already owned, simply because they got swallowed into the black hole I call a jewelry box. Accessory organization is extremely important for the girl on the go. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve gone out and bought a ring or necklace nearly identical to one I already owned simply because I couldn’t find it or because it was tangled into a mess of necklaces.

My problem stemmed from lack of organization, I really just threw all my jewelry into a box. In time, the bracelets got mixed up with the necklaces and over time they just got mixed into a yarn-like-ball of mess! Although jewelry organizers come in many shapes and sizes, some are often really pricey (upwards to $400 in some cases!). I did some research and found some great DIY ideas on how to organize jewelry, check out some of the cool ideas I found on this blog: http://www.alovelylittleblog.com/2011/06/jewelry-organization.html

My favorite creative idea was definitely the painted cheese grater! Who woulda thought? I love how jewelry, when organized, can be decorative not only as an accessory but also as a decorative display piece!

Favorite Trends of 2011

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/d9774f6430ce11e180c9123138016265_7.jpeg"}}" alt="" />

Now that we've shared with you some trends we could live without in the next year, here are some we wouldn't mind staying!

1. Colored denim was HUGE this year! The brighter the better! From Miley Cyrus to Kim Kardashian, bright colored denim was all the rage! Paired with a a leather jacket, a tank top, or a blazer- this look was great day or night. Favorite colors were bright red and blue, but shades of green, yellow, and pink were also popular! The look wasnt limited to women either, Justin Bieber was even spotted with red pants at the VMA’s!

2. Mad Men has not only coaxed many viewers with its witty storyline it has revitalized 1960’s fashion for both men and women. The ultra feminine timeless classic look found its way back to stores, even resulting in a whole Mad-Men inspired fashion line at Banana Republic. Sweaters, Pearls, and Pencil Skirts weren’t just for the office anymore!

3.Neutral and Nude shades were the new black this year! From neutral tops to nude heels - these flattering hues were easy to pair with any outfit! Natural and light, the colors looked great on all skin shades. The neutral and nude trend could be found in solid, lace, and sheer patterns from the runway to the red carpet even to casual street wear.

4. Platforms came back!! A personal favorite for my flat-footed self, this trend was a savior for me this year! The look was found everywhere from summer wedges to evening pumps, this chunky look was stylish and fun! The chunky platforms elongated the legs and were a great addition to any outfit.

5. Although the whole Lady Gaga, or should we say Joe Calderone, look may not be for everyone, androgynous clothing was another huge hit this year. Many male-inspired trends were entering the women’s fashion world. Tuxedo jackets, “boyfriend watches”, button down blouses, cigarette pants, and vests all were great trendy additions to the 2011 wardrobe.

Trends that need to stay in 2011

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Photo.png"}}" alt="" />

Over the year there have been many hits and misses in the fashion world. The hits of course we loved and replicated in our own wardrobe. However, there are those styles that lay in the backs of our closets, collecting dust, never to return again. Here are our Top 5 worst trends of the year:

1. Leggings- Yes, I know, we all own them, but they are inappropriate for so many outfits. You would not wear them to work or on a date, it would be an obvious statement of not caring. The only exception to these leggings would be under a dress, a skirt, a long shirt, or at the gym. Just remember: leggings are NOT pants! The worst of the worst would be the beige leggings we have seen… it doesn’t get worse than that. Hope to see less of these and jeggings next year! Oh, and please no pajama pants!

2. Ed Hardy- Anything Ed Hardy… mostly the loud and obnoxious shirts that we see, especially on Jersey Shore. Let’s keep it on the show and not in our closets!

3. MC Hammer pants- The most unflattering style of pants on a woman. MC Hammer hardly made it work for men. Why would you want to have a sagging crotch and then the rest of the leg fitted? I don’t understand why someone would want this style. Have a nice fitted pair of jeans to show off your shape, no sagging needed!

4. Double denim- I thought we left this style back in the 90’s, but it crept its way back somehow. One item of denim goes a long way, and when there is more than one item, it’s too much. Especially when the denim pieces are the same shade of blue… this shouldn’t happen ever again!

5. Rompers- This invention does seem like the ideal outfit… a shirt and shorts combined into one… however, it’s a miss on our style board. In reality, for half of us, they don’t fit because of shorter/longer torsos/legs, which make it impossible to fit. And then the other half that thought they fit into them, just looked frumpy because rompers are not fitted, leaving it baggy on their body. 2012, please no rompers in the new year!

Holiday Coma

The holidays are upon us and while most of the festivities are over, we still have one big night left to conquer before we can all officially kick back and recover from all of the eating, drinking, and wrapping (and unwrapping). New Years Eve is a mere 5 days away and like many other girls, I found myself in an odd predicament of deciding what to wear on that festive evening. The past few weeks were taken over by a blur of holiday preparations and last minute shopping that the thought of going back to a mall to find an outfit for new years sounds absolutely dreadful.

Given that this take on shopping may not change within the next few days, my creative juices have started to flow. I picked out my favorite little black dress from my closet and have decided to pair it with a few of my favorite accessories!

With some sparkly heels, a statement necklace, and my new big bold ring I got for Christmas- I think my NYE dress anxiety has gone down from a 10 to a 3! Keep in mind, that even with a plain solid dress, a few small and sparkly additions can bring some glam to any outfit! So keep your anxiety levels at a low and see what you can pair with your LBD to ring in the new year in style!

Christmas in California

Christmas in California

Spending the Holidays in California is funny. It’s almost like we have crossed the globe and ended up in a country with opposite seasons! At Cocobop we are all excited to spend our Christmas in the sun but it brings up a difficult point…how do you dress Christmas-y when it is 70 degrees and sunny out?

I have come up with a few suggestions on how to use accessories to make non-holiday attire look more festive.

#1

Make sure to keep the colors festive. No, I am not talking only red and green (although those colors are encouraged) I would tell you to think rich jewel tones, like deep purples, and bright marigold, or even pewter. Even if you are wearing shorts and a tank top a statement necklace, or cuff, in a dazzling jewel tone will scream festive.

#2

Utilize scarves. No matter how hot and sunny it is outside people will always think Christmas when they see fabric cutely draped around a person’s neck. If you are worried about over-heating look for lightweight fabrics, or thin knit scarves that can be worn loosely and not leave you feeling sweaty and uncomfortable.

#3

Be daring with hats. Albeit a beanie when it’s hot and sunny outside might be a bit extreme, but think of the possibilities that you can do with fedoras, or slouchy style beanies. There are some absolutely adorable hats in nice wintery fabrics that will still allow you to catch some rays and get a nice golden tan.

#4

Use headbands. Headbands are so versatile! If you are feeling like you are lacking holiday spirit slip on a red or green headband and BAM! You are ringing with holiday cheer. Don’t have a headband, just steal a ribbon off your favorite package under the tree and you will have the same effect (just make sure that you use some bobby pins to keep in from sliding off your head).

#5

When in doubt slip on a Santa hat and call it a day! No seriously, there is nothing in the world that screams Merry Christmas better than a bright red Santa hat, so just slip it on, with pajamas, or jeans, or a cocktail dress and you will be ready for any holiday gathering!

So just remember that even if you are spending Christmas at the beach wearing a bikini and cut-offs you can easily bring a little bit of holiday spirit to your outfit with the simple use of some strategic accessories!

Spruce Up Your White T

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/WhiteT.jpg"}}" alt="" />

Everyone has their own style but one staple piece found in most women's closets are the iconic white t shirt and jeans ensemble. This easy and comfortable outfit is a favorite of many- but often times you skip over the option because you may think its "too casual" … well have no fear! We've created 4 great looks using your favorite outfit!!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Scarf.jpg"}}" alt="" />

1. Out in the City

Simple as it is, adding a colorful scarf will totally jazz up a plain white T! Paired with some fun earings or bracelets you'll transform this outfit from a simple to casual chic!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Satchel.jpg"}}" alt="" />

2. Weekend Getaway

Going on vacation or getting away for the weekend? Pair your jeans and shirt with a fun satchel! Satchels are great because they allow your hands to be free! Whether youre shopping, dancing, or simply going on a walk, the cross body bag brings life to an outfit and is fun to wear during the day! Try out a studded satchel or one with a fringe to add some flair!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Fedora.jpg"}}" alt="" />

3. Comfy Chic

Whether you're going out to the beach or out for lunch, a fedora makes for a great addition to any jean and t-shirt outfit. On lazy days where doing your hair is the last thing on your to-do list, and you dont want to be bothered with makeup, throw on a fedora and some oversized shades and still look fabulous with minimal effort!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Blazer.jpg"}}" alt="" />

4. Night Out

A black blazer will bring life to any jean/t shirt combination! The blazer brings a sleek look to the outfit! Throw on some heels and jewelry and you'll be ready for a night out on the town with the girls!

So when you dont feel like buying a whole new outfit- remember- just a few accessory additions can add versatility to even your favorite jeans and t shirts!!

One Blazer, Three Styles

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/blazer.jpg"}}" alt="" />

It’s amazing how one piece of clothing can create so many different outfits! It’s just about being creative with accessories. One of my favorite items is my black, quarter-length sleeve blazer. I wear it for so many occasions and outings, but it never seems overused or out of style; that is because of the accessories paired with it. Three of my favorite outfits with the blazer are an everyday look, a sophisticated evening look and a cute date look.

For an everyday look, you first put on your favorite jeans and tee, throw on the blazer and then some high boots or flats. Next step: accessorize! Since it is an everyday look, you don’t want to overdo the quantity of accessories. Instead, you want the quality of your accessories to be outstanding; in order to make a statement of course! When I wear the blazer during the day running errands or going to work, I like to either wrap a patterned scarf around my neck or put on a long necklace with a large pendant.

Sophisticated evening look is one of my favorites! Pair a nice pair of dark jeans with a cute blouse, heels (I prefer nude or tan heels for this look), and then the blazer. Then, depending what you like better, wear a chunky necklace or bracelet that makes a statement. I love a big signature necklace because it really makes the outfit complete. And of course, adding a fun studded clutch is always a nice touch!

Last but not least is the date outfit. First, pick out your favorite dress (my favorite is a floral print or simple yet classy solid color). With the dress, slip on a pair of flats or heels, depending on where the date it, and then add the blazer! So, for dates, I like to combine accessories. If you combine accessories, like I do, do not combine statement jewelry because it IS too much. I like to wear a simple long necklace, possibly with a scarf, and then maybe a ring and some simple stud earrings. It’s a way to show that you are fashionable without over accessorizing!

Why we love big bags

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/photo_3_.JPG"}}" alt="" />

Have you ever found yourself looking around a room with bag envy? You know, when you feel like every girl in the room has a more fabulous and trendy bag than the one that is in your hand. For some reason I think this happens a lot. And it got me thinking, what do I really look for in a bag?

I would say that the number one criteria when deciding if I like the bag is size, it can’t be to small. When shopping for a bag I always start out saying, “I need space for my phone, wallet, keys and planner. And if it’s for everyday then my make-up…oh and maybe a water bottle, and maybe some gum, and maybe…” you get the point. When I am looking for a bag I have come to realize that bigger is better!

You are probably thinking, that at some point a bag could be considered too big, but I think that barring carrying around a Hefty bag you’d be hard pressed to find a bag that I think is too big. Besides, I think big bags are more aesthetically pleasing, with great shape, awesome hardware and often super nice straps, big bags can help to define a person’s wardrobe. If you add a nice colorful tote to a plain jeans and t-shirt you are immediately adding a focal point, or if you are at work a subdue leather bag can easily be transformed into a laptop case that blends with even the most professional attire. And don’t forget how great big bags are when you are traveling. First and foremost, it allows you an extra carry on when traveling and can double as a beach or shopping bag when you are need something to carry all of your stuff.

So I have come to believe that when you are looking for a bag there should be just one mantra, “Bigger is ALWAYS better”!

If you enjoy big bags as much as we do make sure to check out our awesome handbag selection at Cocobop.

Grown Up Stocking Stuffers

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/94e95e4a2d8c11e19896123138142014_7.jpeg"}}" alt="" />

With Christmas only 3 days away, it’s hard to not feel the excitement bubbling within your stomach just like it does in little kids who eagerly wait to open their presents... I mean the phrase “like a kid on Christmas morning” came from somewhere right? One of my favorite things about that long awaited morning was discovering all the goodies tucked inside my stocking. Stockings were amazing! Many times it would be more exciting opening up a stocking than the big presents because it was like the gift that kept giving! The oversized sock was a great home to many little presents- and what makes for a better “little” present than accessories?!

So... given that I am no longer 8 years old- my stocking stuffers have graduated from candies and Casio players to more “grown up” presents. The little girl inside me is still giddy with excitement to unveil the surprises within that coveted stocking...Here are a few items I’ m hoping to find inside mine this year year:

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/photo_1-1.jpeg"}}" alt="" />

Textured Scarves

I’m all about scarves right now. They’re so versatile and easy! You can use a scarf to dress down an outfit or dress it up- like this one here- the metallic detailing adds a little oomph factor to spruce up a nice jean and t-shirt ensemble!

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/photo_2.jpeg"}}" alt="" />

Long Earrings

I love the look of long beaded earrings! They aren’t too distracting, so they won’t take away from your new shirt you’re excited to show off- but still compliment an outfit with a dash of elegance.

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/photo_3.jpeg"}}" alt="" />

Beaded Bracelets

I LOVE this bracelet! The beads and silver detail make a great addition to a night-on-the-town outfit! Pair it with your favorite black dress and heels and get ready to turn some heads!

These few presents may not bring about the stomach ache I was used to getting after engulfing all the candy stuffed within my stocking- but I think thats one stomach ache I’m willing to trade in for some awesome trinkets... Guess growing up isn’t so bad after all.

When it comes to online shopping- we’ve all been there.
Less Is More

<img src="{{media url="wysiwyg/tumbl.jpg"}}" alt="" />

Tired of those repeated outfits in the back of your closet? Those can easily be transformed into new and exciting looks! One product can alter any outfit for any occasion, such as going from the office to a night out with your friends or out on a date. Statement accessories such as necklaces, earrings, scarves and bags are all you need! Investing in new and exciting accessories creates those new styles; there is no need to purchase new clothing just to obtain a new look. Enhancing what you already have is ideal and you can make it your reality.

When creating a new outfit and look, statement accessories are key. Statement accessories are all about one thing: less is more. Too much is, in fact, too much. Simplicity is at its best with signature items. Switching out your tote bag from work for a studded clutch will have you ready for a night out with friends. It’s that simple! One simple change makes all the difference. Replace that simple gold chain necklace with a chunky layered necklace, and you’ve completely changed your look! It’s about replacing items, not adding onto them!

So remember: less is more and there is no need to splurge on new clothing when you can purchase timeless statement pieces!
